Friday Jokes Start Early!

According to The Age website "Muslim summit repudiates terrorism". See the story here.

My favourite quote is
"Dr Ali said none of the Muslim leaders at today's meeting supported al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden."
Yeah right!!!!!!

  1. Watching Jewish settlers burn an Israeli flag and throw rocks at Soldiers makes me think that this practice must be a minhag in Gaza. These former jews must have learnt this from their cousins.

I hope the fanatics here won't coy them!

  3. All the Islamic representatives at the summit were hand picked puppets. The summit was a media show, and its purpose was to make the Howard government look like they are not discriminating against Moslems and are fighting terrorism.

We still have guys like the Mufti El-Hilaly who calls for jihad against EY. Then there is that guy Ray Deen, a macher in Labor, who wrote a fax saying that Sept. 11 was a Jewish conspiracy.

The summit was meant to assuage the Moslems and lull the public into a false sense of security. We are still facing a major problem with home grown radical Islamic terrorists and their sympathisers. Don't let the media show fool you.

  4. The western world clearly has a problem with elements of radical Muslim groups living in western countries. How should we respond to the threat from those who seek to harm us? John Howard’s response was this summit with Muslim leaders. Yes, they are handpicked moderates. But, these are exactly the people who do not support bin-laden> they are people who follow the interpretation of the Koran that repudiates martyrdom and violence. These people should be elevated and praised, so that their way of understanding the Koran becomes the accepted way.

AE, your mockery of the summit is disappointing. You write, “Don't we learn in chassidus that what we find distasteful in other people is a reflection of our own negative traits?” What do you find distaetsful in Muslims speaking out against terrorism. So what if they don’t represent the entire community. At least they are trying to do something to curb the hate some muslims feel towards us.

Chas Ve Shalom that all muslims should see all Jews as extermits. They don’t. They can see that Isreal has a vigiorus democarcy where it as acceptable to critisce the governemnt. We should support their attempts at adpoting values of democary and tolerance that are enrishned in the Australian way of life.

  5. "AE, your mockery of the summit is disappointing"

That was not AE's comment, it was mine. AE is NOT me!

I was not mocking the summit, I just do not believe it is a sincere effort. It would be naive to think so. It is too little too late. Actually, I doubt there are too many 'moderate' Moslems. If so, then shouldn't the voices of the so-called 'moderate' Moslems have been much more strident by now? Yet, we have barely heard a whisper out of them, and they have done little if nothing to purge their mosques and communities of the terrorist elements.

  6. My last comment was referring to the “yeah right” in the “Friday jokes start early” blog, not to shoshana’s comment. I agree with Shoshana that the voices of moderate Muslims should be more strident. John’s Howards summit was the first of such attempts to engage the moderates in high profile dialogue with this nations elected leaders. Shoshana also said “they(muslims) have done little if nothing to purge their mosques and communities of the terrorist elements.”

    Last week, The Age reported,
“Australia should start training home-grown imams to curb the risk of importing extremists, said federal Education Minister Brendan Nelson.”

This was supported by Muslims! “The president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, Ameer Ali, said Muslim leaders had asked for years for government help for such a project. "We welcome it," he said.”
Somethinmg is being done to change muslim culture in Australia. We should be supporting it, and engaging in dialouge with the Muslim community in order to reduce the perception of strerotypes that exist of both Jews and Mulims.

  7. Two Arab mothers meet and start talking.

The first one says, "How is little Mohamed."

The second mother answers,"Oh, my little Mohamed was wonderful. Praise Allah, he became a holy martyr."

"Really?" the first mother answers, "it seems like only yesterday he was a beautiful little boy. And tell me, how is Ahmed?"

"Ahmed, praise Allah was also a wonderful boy. He also became a martyr," the second mother answers.

The first mother exclaims, "I remember him when he was in diapers like it was only yesterday. And how is Akbad?"

"Praise Allah! Akbad also martyred himself!" the second mother answers clasping her hands and looking upwards with a sigh.

The first mother also lets out a sigh and says, "They blow up fast these days, don't they?"
