I received this email from JEM earlier today:
We are pleased to inform you that Jewish Educational Media has obtained a previously-unreleased recording of the Farbrengen of 10 Shevat, 5728 – 1968, corresponding to this year's chapter in the Maamar Bosi L'Gani.
Though recordings of this event were previously available, they were muffled and difficult to follow. The current recording – on loan to JEM for restoration and preservation as part of our Living Archive Restoration Project – is of superior sound quality, enabling you to relive the Farbrengen with much greater richness and clarity.
For comparison, we present the old and new recordings side-by-side. The JEM team, in cooperation with Chabad.org , has decided to release it in its present form in time for the Tenth of Shevat. Click here to listen.
The recording was made by Rabbi Sholom Yisroel Hodakov, and we thank him for sharing it with Klal Yisroel.
I have listened to some of the sichos and niggunim and they are surprising clear for such old recordings. Obviously whatever method they use to "clean up" the recordings works. It is a pleasure to listen to them.
